The term “baby boomer” is used to depict a person who was born during the post World War 2 baby boom, particularly from 1946 to 1964. The term “baby boom generation” was coined to describe a group of people born during the middle part of the 20th century. These are groups of people who are now of age.

Baby boomers may be aging but they are certainly not incapable of doing anything. Many baby boomers are still very active. Many people think that baby boomers tend to keep their distance when it comes to technology, especially the Internet. On the contrary, a lot of baby boomers are now turning to the Internet as a way of preserving the past through blogs, as a way to communicate with each other through social networks, and as a way to generate extra income through niches. As you can see, the baby boom generation is still very much alive and active.

Studies show that baby boomers are not precisely the technology haters that a lot of people think they are. As a matter of fact, more than 60% of the people who belong to the post World War 2 demographic are enthusiastically overshadowing socially made content like blogs, podcasts, forums, and videos. Furthermore, the number of baby boomers participating is growing.

A high percentage of baby boomers are now participating in web logs or blog sites. If you are thinking that blogging is only for young people and professionals, better think again. In fact, older people, especially baby boomers, are more effective in blogging since they have more experience socially, politically, and everything in between. When baby boomers create a blog, you can be certain that you will learn a thing or two after reading that blog.

Now that some, if not most, baby boomers are retired, they can use blogging to generate extra income through attracting potential clients or partners for certain businesses. Some people, when they retire, get bored. All those years that they have worked, it becomes hard to let go. Blogging is a great outlet for baby boomers. It gives them the chance to communicate with other baby boomers around the world. Not only that, they can also share an idea or two regarding what’s happening to the world now and how things were before. Blogging is also a great way of letting go of frustrations regarding a wide variety of topics.

Baby boomers who are aspiring writers can make blogging a stepping stone for their unpublished works. I’m sure a lot of retirees are thinking of writing a book or two; blogging is the door to that dream.
